  Contract Senior & Junior Exploration Geologists

  Resource Geologist

Perth based.  A Senior Exploration Geologist is needed to advance exploration efforts in a major new project that will provide a good mix of office and field work.  The position reports directly to the Exploration Manager and requires over 5 years of industry experience.

The project has strong potential to become a world class mine with JORC resources in excess of 50 million tonnes and resource targets of a further 100 million tonnes.  The project also has one of WA's most exciting copper deposits with recent RC drilling intersecting over 50 metres of continuous mineralisation above 1.5% Cu.

The main focus will be the supervision and management of field crews with other duties including implementation and management of exploration programs (Auger, AC, RC, DD), field mapping, interpretation and modelling of exploration results, QA/QC, assisting in preparation of reports and budgets.  The successful candidate should be experience din Micromine and Mapinfo and preferably experienced with iron ore, mineral sands or manganese.

This role is to be offered as a permanent staff position (with 3 months probation) with an attractive remuneration package and the offer of a generous employee option scheme.  The role will involve field work on a campaign basis.

The Project Geologist position will be responsible for hands on supervision of site exploration activities during campaign field programs and supervising contractors, field assistants and drilling crews.

Applicants are invited from recent graduates with up to 4 years post graduate experience.

Both positions are to be filled as soon as possible with candidates holding either Permanent Residency or citizenship of Australia.

The project is located in the Pilbara of WA.   Accommodation is provided on the well serviced outstation homestead.  Rosters are based on a 2/1 cycle during field activities.

Kalgoorlie area, can be based locally or on a Perth based 8/6 FIFO rotation.  Senior position will have to be authorised Grade 1 but the junior position does not have such a requirement and over one year previous underground experience will suffice.  The senior role will be responsible for all aspects of underground surveying including exploration activities, procuringsurvey equipment, CMS of stope voide, reporting and supervision of junior surveyors.  It is unlikely that surveyors with less than 5 years experience would be suitable.  Candidates must be proficient in the use of Leica, Total Statio and SURPAC.  The junior position reports to  the senior role and relieves during periods of absence.  Both positions are permanent staff opportunities and are to be filled as soon as possible.
  Production Metallurgist

West Africa on a 9 week on 4 week off commute cycle with travel in company time.  Applicants should have over 10 years geotechnical experience in both open pit and underground hard rock mining with a strong grasp of ground control management, slope design, D & B practices and slope monitoring systems.  A well developed understanding of ground support design and the impact of mining sequencing for underground operations.  The key responsibilities include generating geotechnical models for data collected, and planning and implementation of geotechnical monitoring systems and the training and development of the geological and geoctechnical team members.  Candidates should have appropriate tertiary qualification on the geosciences and have well developed communication skills and be culturally tolerant and safety conscious.  It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have up to date knowledge of slope stability monitoring software and geological modelling software (SURPAC or equivalent).  This permanent staff position is to be filled as soon as possible and a competitive salary package is offered to attract a high calibre geotechnical engineer/geologist.

Eastern goldfields of WA.   Applications are invited from Mining Engineers with at least seven years post-graduate hard-rock open pit experience with an Unrestricted Quarry Managers Certificate and exceptional communication and organisational skills and have demonstrated experience with narrow veined mining in a similar role at a senior level.

The main responsibility is the leadership of the mining and geological team for the mining functions and take charge of a multi-pit gold operation in the Eastern Goldfields and ensure that it runs effectively, efficiently and safely.   The role will be FIFO ex Perth on 9/5 roster only.

This position reports directly to the Resident Manager and takes responsibility for all mining and haulage production on site, leading and managing the workforce and will also include :

  • Statutory control of a multi-pit operation.
  • Overseeing all mining and haulage activities of a multi-pit operation.
  • Managing the mining and haulage contractor.
  • Supervising and mentoring mining and geological staff.
  • Oversee the short and long term scheduling and planning of the multi-pit operation.
  • Alternate statutory control of the mine in the absence of the Resident Manager.

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills as you will need to liaise with other disciplines on site as well as the corporate office and be able to motivate your team.
